Before the railroad reached Emmett in 1902, downtown Emmett was a handful of board-and-batten buildings west of today’s West Main Street. Brick buildings soon took their place, including the three-story Russell Hotel in 1904. Many of those buildings are still here, like the Monroe Building at Main and Washington and the Ideal Theater from 1916, whose outside was restored in 2007. Pioneer Park, also called Huskie Park, sits where the town’s first Methodist church stood in 1886.
