Do Window Cleaners Clean Screens?
Many do, and we do. It’s one of the questions we hear most: “Do you have a screen cleaner?” Yes. We wash screens on a XERO screen cleaning machine, then put them back once the glass is done.
Why clean screens matter
Dirty screens undo clean windows. Every time the wind blows, the dust and pollen packed into a screen land right back on the glass. Grimy screens also block light and fresh air, and in the Treasure Valley, spring pollen and cottonwood fluff fill them fast.
How we clean screens
- We take your screens out before we clean the glass.
- Each screen gets washed on our XERO screen cleaning machine.
- Once the glass is clean, the screens go back in.

How often to clean screens
At least once a year for most homes, ideally with your spring window cleaning. If you live near fields, construction or lots of trees, or you keep your windows open all summer, have them done every time your windows are. More in our guide: how often to clean your windows in Boise.
How to clean screens yourself
- Take the screens out and mark which window each one came from. A strip of painter’s tape works.
- Lay them flat on a tarp or an old sheet.
- Rinse both sides with a garden hose on a gentle spray. A pressure washer can stretch or tear the mesh.
- Scrub gently with a soft brush dipped in warm water with a little dish soap.
- Rinse again, and let them dry completely before you put them back.
Go easy on older screens: brittle mesh tears easily.
