William Judson Boone founded The College of Idaho in 1891 as the state’s first private liberal arts college. In 1910 it moved to its present campus, now 55 acres, helped by 20 acres donated by Henry and Carrie Blatchley, and Sterry Hall was the first building there. Sterry Hall, Blatchley Hall and the Strahorn library are on the National Register. On Cleveland Boulevard, the small building nicknamed The Hat was built in 1912 as an interurban streetcar stop, and the three-story Cruzen-Murray Library opened in 2017.
