The town site dates to 1904, when Thomas Aikens and John Carpenter platted fifteen acres for the new town. Eagle’s first bank opened in 1910 at Valley Road and 1st Street, and that building still stands. Eagle didn’t become a city until 1971. Today the Eagle Road and State Street intersection is the front door to downtown, and a recent ACHD project reworked it along with Aikens Street, Plaza Drive and Olde Park Place.
