What If It Rains After Window Cleaning?

Good news: rain usually doesn’t ruin a fresh window cleaning. Rain water itself is clean. The spots people see after a storm come from dirt on the frames and screens washing down onto the glass, and we clean those too. And if rain does leave spots the same day we clean, we come back for free.

Why rain doesn’t usually spot clean windows

Rain falls clean. What leaves spots is the dirt it picks up on the way down: dust on the frames, sills and screens above the glass, and mud splashing up from the ground. When only the glass gets cleaned, the next rain washes that dirt off the frames and right onto the pane.

That’s why we don’t stop at the glass. Outside, we clean the glass, frames and sills, and we take every screen off and put it back. With the frames clean, there’s much less dirt for the rain to carry onto your windows.

Do you clean windows in the rain?

Usually, yes. Light rain doesn’t stop a cleaning. Heavy rain does, and so does wind that makes ladder work unsafe. If the forecast turns, we call you and move your cleaning to the next good day.

If it rains the same day

If rain the same day as your cleaning leaves spots on your windows, let us know and we’ll come back and touch them up for free. That goes for every customer, whether it’s your first cleaning or your tenth.

Our 7-day Rain Guarantee

Monthly and Quarterly members get more time: our 7-day Rain Guarantee. If rain spots your windows within a week of a cleaning, we come back and touch them up at no extra cost. Those memberships also come with RainBlock, our pure water rinse: water filtered down to zero minerals, so the glass dries spot-free with no soap or residue left behind for dirt to cling to. Sprinklers are a different story

In the Treasure Valley, the white spots on most windows come from sprinklers, not rain. Irrigation water carries a lot of minerals and hits the same windows all summer, and those spots don’t wash off with the next storm. Here’s how to get hard water spots off your windows.

When to schedule

It doesn’t rain much here, so no season is off limits. Spring, once the pollen settles, and fall, after sprinkler season ends, are the most popular times. Here’s how often to clean your windows in Boise.
