Where to See Christmas Lights in Boise and the Treasure Valley
From a garden glowing with hundreds of thousands of lights to small-town parades down Main Street, the Treasure Valley does the holidays right. Here are the public light displays, tree lightings and parades worth a trip, town by town. Dates change every year, so check each organizer’s page before you go.
Boise
- Winter Garden aGlow, Idaho Botanical Garden. The Garden calls it one of the region’s most beloved holiday traditions. Last season, its 29th, had more than 850,000 lights, running from late November through December. It’s also the Garden’s largest yearly fundraiser.
- Downtown Boise Holiday Tree Lighting, the Grove Plaza. A free lighting the Friday after Thanksgiving, with a candle lighting, live holiday music and a countdown. The tree carries more than 5,000 lights all season.
- Idaho Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting. Hosted by the Governor and First Lady in early December last season, with music, cookies, hot cocoa and Santa. Guests could go inside the Capitol after the lighting.
Meridian
- Scentsy Christmas Lights. The company’s Meridian campus lights up with a 250-foot light tunnel and a 75-foot tree. Last season the lights came on November 14 and stayed on from sunset to sunrise through January 19.
- Winter Lights Parade and Tree Lighting, downtown Meridian. The city lists this year’s parade for Friday, December 4, 2026, with pre-parade activities at 5:30 PM and the parade at 7:00 PM, plus watch parties and free hot cocoa stands.
- Christmas in Color, Roaring Springs. A light show you see from your car, with tickets sold per vehicle. Last season it ran from mid November through late December.
Caldwell
- Winter Wonderland Festival, Indian Creek Plaza. The city lists this year’s free opening festival for November 20 to 22, 2026, 6 to 9 PM, with one million lights, shopping, Santa and ice skating. Last season the lights stayed up through February.
- Treasure Valley Night Light Parade. A nighttime holiday parade, held in early December last season.
Nampa
- Nampa Christmas Tree Lighting, downtown. Held with Shop Small Saturday outside the Canyon County Historical Society Museum at the old train depot. Last season’s tree was a 60-foot spruce, lit at 6 PM the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Eagle
- Eagle Country Christmas. Eagle’s holiday celebration ends with a tree lighting. Last season it was in early December.
Star, Kuna and Emmett
- Star’s tree lighting at the Star River House. Star has made its tree lighting a day-long event, with a holiday market, kids’ activities, fire pits and Santa.
- Bernie Fisher Park lighting, Kuna. The city lights Bernie Fisher Park right after the Kuna Chamber’s Down Home Country Christmas celebration and night light parade. Check the city calendar for this year’s date.
- Holiday Magic on Main Street, Emmett. A lighted parade down Main Street, organized by the Gem County Recreation District, then the lighting of the city’s Colorado blue spruce in Roy A. Bowman Family Memorial Park. Last season it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
